I find this girl somewhat stylish,the headphones ,the nails AND the shoes.Money to burn and brought the shoes or  style d.y.i and she painted the heels herself?I really hope the latter.It would be just that bit more impressive to me.

The job I'd really like

I like the fake chart put out by,I believe,American apparel below,but let's face fact's.What a joy it must be to sit and name the paint's for Farrow and Ball.Much more interesting that the telephone book,and I'm in that!

Coincidence?

Surfing  about and taking a pic from here and a pic from there as one is apt to do,I was struck by the likeness of the two images that I had placed unknowingly beside each other on my desktop.The headdress jewels?Or something more?The painting is Maria von Burgund,Duchess of Burgundy,the girl is Penelope Tree,sixty's girl par excellence.

Amazing to think that these are not just drawing's but designs that actually came to fruition,but I took this from a book about the Sotheby's discovery of some of these pieces:'pulling out a gorgeously embroidered eighteenth-century coat,immediately identified as a creation by Bakst for 'The Sleeping Princess',that most lavish of all spectacles,we assumed,because of it's splendour,that it was worn by the king or Prince Charming-but no,there where five more like it:it was just one of the courtiers' in the background'

Who is Zinaida?

Every one has their Muse's and Rina has used women from all over history and art. In this case he jewellery was well under way when we happened upon this perfect image for the woman to wear the work in progress,freeing and helping the progress no end,but that's inspiration,that's the muse's job, or at least,place in the scheme of thing's.But it was the way in which she connects to so many other inspiration's that is so amazing to me.

She is Zinaida Gippus, ( 1869-1945 ) a Russian poet and described as " one of the most enigmatic and intelligent women of her time in Russia.The painting is by Leon Bakst ( 1866-1924 ) who was most famous for his set's and costume designs for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes and where does that not connect you to? Picasso,Chanel,Stravinsky,the list is really endless.And just look at her,with the George Sand cross dressing overtones and is she not a dead ringer for Marlene Dietrich?

Style and substance,just truly unbeatable forever.
